Our Baby Ballerina in Blue: Julia’s Second Ballet Recital
Julia had her second ballet recital last March 26, at the Meralco Theater through Halili-Cruz School of Ballet’s Celebration of Dance 2014.
I am proud and happy to have seen her perform and do what brings her much joy.
Singing the Same Tune Still
Around the same date two years ago I was feeling down and lost, and my heart enveloped with hatred and animosity. Is it some kind of a joke life is pulling on me that I’m finding myself in the exact same heavy state?
It could be a seasonal thing—February being the month of defeat for me and the month of love for the rest of the world. I might even have to thank Josh Groban for coming up with February Song as an anthem.
When I go through low points like this, I take the time to stop for a moment and re-assess my life. I think about my priorities, the things that matter to me and where I’m heading. It’s not the easiest thing to do. It entails re-living portions of life like the successes I enjoyed, the mistakes I made, and the consequences I suffered just to name a few. It takes me on a new series of emotions. But the good thing about it is it becomes an eye-opener. It makes me realize that I could be doing things for the wrong reasons. Or I could be doing the wrong things right off the bat.
They say when you fall into the same pit every time, it’s time you do some tweaking in your life. And that just could be the answer to my problem.
I am changing my plan of action this time. And a change of environment perhaps.
Yeah, I think it’s time to go…
Signed Up for an Adventure!
I just signed up for Jon Acuff’s 30 days of hustle which starts on the 1st of February. I’m not sure what exactly I have just gotten myself into.
I read the words adventure and dreams. Seems fun and interesting to me.
Bring it on!
29 Things I’ve Learned in Life
- We are all equal, but not the same.
- People come and go. But some will choose to stay.
- Respect is given and Trust is earned, not the other way around.
- Be nice to everyone. (Or at least try to.)
- Smile.
- Value people and relationships.
- If you want something done right, do it yourself.
- We don’t own our lives.
- Say what you mean, mean what you say.
- A public place is a shared space not a free-for-all space.
- Respect policies.
- Keep your promises.
- Choose your battles. Sometimes peace and class are more important than proving others wrong.
- Accept the fact that you are not always right.
- Please and thank you have been and forever will be magic words.
- Say sorry whenever you hurt someone (intentionally or not).
- Treasure each moment with family.
- Keep honesty as one of your virtues.
- What goes around, comes around.
- Grammar is as important as breakfast.
- You are beyond your occupation. Don’t let it define you.
- Each life story is unique. Just because one thing happened to your friend doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen to you.
- The more you judge people, the more you will be surprised.
- Blaming people won’t get you anywhere.
- Be passionate.
- If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
- Dress appropriately.
- Don’t be afraid to say ‘I love you’ when you actually mean it.
- God is good.
2013 Best Memories
Happy is the person who knows what to remember of the past, what to enjoy in the present, and what to plan for in the future.
—Arnold H. Glasow
I can’t let the year end without recounting and appreciating the blessings and good days that came into my life.
28th Birthday Greetings
Birthdays always make a day in every year a bit more special, but more than the party I had to celebrate my 28 years of existence, what touched me are the surprise greetings of love from my friends and family.
Furkids Austin and Timothy
This year I went back to having dogs and it started with Austin, a Schnoodle (Schnauzer–Poodle mix), who was given to me by my boss.
Trips, Locally and Abroad
I’m very much pleased that I am able to continue to travel and to bond with friends and family. There’s the Amansinaya day trip, Dumaguete trip (wherein I swam with the whale sharks) and Singapore–LEGO Land trip.
Mama’s Baptism
Although I wasn’t able to witness the ceremonies, I am overjoyed that my mother has surrendered her life to the Lord and is now a Born-Again Christian. Nothing gives comfort as much as knowing that your loved ones have a renewed faith and strengthened relationship with our Creator.
Passport Renewal
This is truly a blessing! Had I not received my new passport, I wouldn’t have been able to go on our Singapore trip!
5-Day Boracay Stay
Going to Boracay is becoming a yearly tradition every time my sister from the US comes home. And I am loving it!
It’s a shame I can’t remember the other events and good things that made my 2013 memorable and exciting. But for everything that God has given me, I am truly grateful.
Here’s to a new year — 2014 filled with all the good stuff!
Cheers!
Christmas 2013
Boracay Break
Beaches are heaven on earth. And I feel blessed to have been able to take a week’s leave from work last week and spend it in one of the world’s best beaches — Boracay.
It was the perfect time to relax and spend time with family (especially with my sister Shy who came from the States) before the busyness of Christmas sets in and the new year begins.
Julia’s Ballet Recital Video
Here it is!!! The video of Julia’s performance during her ballet recital.
Julia’s First Ballet Recital
Our family beamed with pride as we watched Julia perform in her first ballet recital at the Meralco Theater last Wednesday. It perfectly capped off Mama’s special day.
Someone finally got dancing chops in the family! 🙂
It is very apparent that she’s not forced into this stuff. 😛
