3 Filipino Movies that Remind Me of My Childhood

Definitely a throwback!

If you were born in the 80’s or earlier you might have digged (or dug?) these films too. I didn’t expect to find these clips and the full-length versions on YouTube, but I’m most certainly thrilled to discover I can just go online whenever I need a dose of laughter. I’d be first in line should they release remastered DVDs of these movies.

Ober Da Bakod

Who doesn’t remember Mokong and Bubuli? The Janno Gibbs – Anjo Yllana comedy tandem was a hit then as proven by the success of the 90’s comedy show Ober Da Bakod. And you know how things go when a TV show draws huge following — they take it to the big screen!

Gagay: Prinsesa ng Brownout

Gelli De Belen was not only supporting actress to most comedy shows on TV and in films, she actually landed the title role of Gagay: Prinsesa ng Brownout.  She is one of my favorite local comediennes of all time! And the relyriced “Informer” theme song never gets old.

Pik Pak Boom

It is the quintessential 80’s movie bearing all the elements which include a catchy danceable theme song, choreography performed by everyone in the cast (to the last extra) and a spoonfed moral lesson in its storyline. Not to mention, it stars Herbert Bautista and Lilet in the film.

Pik Pak Boom, bar none, is the ultimate movie of our generation!

How about you? What movies take you back to your younger years?
